《对歧视亚裔学生的SCA5说不》

California's SCA-5 is against the "equal protection" clause of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution
On 1/30/2014, the California Senate passed SCA-5 , which would repeal some provisions of Prop 209 and allow the State of California to discriminate an individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin. In the 17 years that Prop 209 has been in effect, California has become the most diversified and prosperous state in the US and Asian-Americans are proudly one of the essential pieces. Comprehensive initiatives have then been implemented to help students from disadvantaged families to obtain high educations. Currently, Asian-Americans often need test scores hundreds of points higher than applicants from other ethnic groups to have an equal chance of admission. Now SCA-5 seeks to unfairly punish Asian-Americans simply based on race.

请所有关心华裔孩子的未来的人们，无论种族，年龄和性别，为华裔孩子在美国的教育系统里得到公平的待遇，在3/18/14之前，参与这个白宫请愿。请大家转告大家。

加州的请愿人数好像已经达到了，但白宫的请愿人数还差很多。请大家转告大家，吧自己的利益和意向，付诸行动。

族裔：UC+Cal State+Community College
Asian:  60.2k+50.7k+189.5k =  300.4k %13.5
Latino: 31.8k+100.3k+575.7k  =  707.8k %31.8
White: 55.1k+114.8k+549.6k =  719.5k %32.3
Total: 179.2k+348.2k+1696.3k = 2223.7k

But encouraging discrimination in public education in California is what SCA 5 (Senate Constitutional Amendment No. 5) is all about. The State Senate narrowly passed this bill on 1/30/2014. The voting in the Assembly is imminent.
Everyone’s family may someday be a victim of this bill—whether a Caucasian farmer with generations of family history in California, a geeky Indian engineer starting up a company in Silicon Valley, a Latino immigrant and small-business owner who endured a lot of family sacrifices just to come to the Golden State, or an African American professor in history still remembering grandma’s vivid stories about segregation on public buses. This “everyone” includes you.

This year is the 50th Anniversary of Civil Rights Act of 1964, and also the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s award of the Nobel Peace Prize. What happened 50 years ago was one of the greatest achievements of all time in human history. Yet, some Californian politicians now decide to substantially undo Dr. King’s legacy. Whatever those politicians’ motivations and agendas behind SCA 5 are, this bill will be a disaster for all Californians.
You are urged to send a postal mail—even in this Facebook age—to your Assembly Representative to stop SCA 5. All you need to do is insert your name and address into a well-drafted PDF letter template, sign it, and mail it.

选民？政客关心的是选票，不是选民，你先搞清楚这个好不好？政客首先考虑的是本党的利益，本党的一致性，如果本党决定了要以党派划线投票，那么这些政客就会去做。

亚裔的议员本应替选举他的亚裔选民说话，而不是替党说话啊

中国的人大代表很多来自基层，都是兼职代表，在开会时为自己的行业鼓吹，争取利益，而不是为党。教师的提案为教师的利益，工人代表的提案为工人，老板代表的提案为老板阶层。

这就是差别！
