A few days ago, Aprilfool questioned the value of repeated discussion of the Cultural Revolution on overseas Chinese net. She concluded that the impact can be very small. The reason might be: China today is so different from 40 or 50 years ago. For the younger generation, that was just a period of the Chinese history. At the age of Internet, everyone can have an opinion and there are just too many oppinions.

There are many similar activities on the Internet. If you do this for entertainment or a sense of self-importance, by all means continue to 指点江山. But 张益唐, 饶毅 and many others have shown another way of using our time: achieve our own success in whatever profession we chose or happen to be in. You probably knew that 张益唐 was a key leader in the Chinese Students and Scholar Independent Federation of the 1989 students-led democratic movement in USA. But he soon turned his full attention to number theory research and proved the earth-shattering twin prime number theorem (Yes, I believe this beats Chen Jinren's work). 饶毅 was also a student leader who later emerged as a world class biomedical researcher. He has had a real positive impact in China by serving as Dean of Beida's School of Life Science.

90年代初，张的研究领域是代数几何，所以“ soon turned his full attention to number theory research ” 不准确。再有，他并没有证明twin prime number theorem，而是证明了“存在无穷多个之差小于7000万的素数对”。（如果能把7000万降到2，那就是twin prime number theorem）

所有这些不影响张的结果的意义，也和也教授日志的主题没关。
