Heavenly Father, We pause this day to remember the many lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001. They were our neighbors, friends, co-workers, family members. This is a day of suffering and loss that is etched on our nation's heart. On that day many police officers, fire fighters, rescue workers and others also gave their own lives to save and serve others. We pause to remember them. We ask that you sustain, strengthen and give peace to those individuals in New York, Washington, D.C. and around the world who lost family members, friends and co-workers to the terrorist attacks on Sept 11. May you grant them your comfort. We remember our service members in Afghanistan, as they seek to bring freedom and peace to a country and a people who have seen little of either. Amen. |
