| Oregon voters passed tax measures 66 and 67 by a large margin. Measures 66 will tax businesses based on their revenue rather than profit, while measure 67 will raise the income tax on the "super rich" to 11.8%, the highest in the nation. Just one problem - the super rich is defined as income of $250k per year, which is just barely above the well-known CND benchmark average. Teacher and public employee unions are behind those measures. They bombarded the media with reminders that it is a great deal to let others pay for services you need. And apparently they got their message through with ease. Some national media predicts that this success in 阶级斗争 in Oregon will set a precedence for the whole country. Other states that are in a tough budget situation will likely follow suit. Congratulations on this 阶级斗争的伟大胜利 to the Socialist Republic of Oregon! Meanwhile, at least we can pack and run across the river for the time being, or is it? |
