星管在博客里说美国七分之一的人还吃不饱饭。 偶读了一声叹息。这样的消息讲给国内常打听如何送孩子到美国读 boarding school 的朋友们， 怕是没人相信； 就好比同从大陆观光回来的美国朋友讲，上海北京只是中国两面繁华之至的橱窗，而有些乡下孩子连书都读不起一样，他们听了都会满脸惊诧。
在这寒冷的季节， 尤其是节日将临之际， 真希望所有不走运的人都能吃上一顿热腾腾的饱饭。 前几天我同先生刚问过两个女儿， 要捐零花钱给那些无家可归的人吗？ 她们拿出钱罐， 倒出bills and changes。 老大心眼实，要倾囊而出， 我说， 留一些，圣诞还要捐呢， 还要留点钱给爸爸买个小礼物呢。(怕老大以后象 Charles Webb, The Graduate 的作者一样， 把钱财全捐完，自己流落街头。 ） 老二是书迷， 自然会留着买书钱。比起吃了上顿没下顿的人， 我们的孩子真是生活在蜜罐里了。 当然， 小朋友只是意思下，主要是我们大人捐。
现在捐钱很方便。 City Team 等都可在网上直接捐。 愿上帝祝福所有的人。
