「山谷里该点灯的时候」这首歌是叙述美国西部一个死囚思念母亲的情怀。台湾学校音乐课本里把歌名改成了「山谷里的灯光」。美国西部有洛矶山脉。山谷里偶有人家。黄昏时分，天上犹有余光，而山谷里却已先黑暗了。这时候，山谷里该点灯了。
