Yes. I needed a good marketing partner. My former business/marketing partner was a nice guy but an arrogant and failed marketing man. Too late to try again on myself now, just want to work for someone and when the company is for sale two or three years later, get myself an easy and stable position then.
Yeah, in the last month, I have worked all first 3 weekends including the Easter holiday. Plus the evening hours. But last weekend, I took the days off. Jogging and walking 3.5 hours on Saturday full circule of Vancouver's seawall. And jogging and walking 2 hours on Sunday, full circule of Vancouver's False Creek.
Thanks for all you guys' advices. Yes I wouldn't work long hours like that all the time.
One of my good friends said I got my career path upside down. I should become a computer programmer in the internet bubble time to make good money, and then when the bubble gone, I should work as a librarian. Easy, stable and with good retirement pension plan etc. But my career path is the opposite. :)

Well, looking back, everyone would see a lot of roads not taken before that might have led to a better life. The only thing we can do about it is try not to miss again when next chance comes. Talking about libraries, in our area a lot of public libraries are facing dramatic budget cut. So they have to reduce open hours and lay off employees. You never know.
The almighty goal of your boss will be selling the small business for a good price. Wish you every luck of landing on a much stabler job that can let you enjoy life and provide a future!
Yes. If the company is for sale later on, in the internet bubble time, we as employees are going to make huge money too. But now I don't think employees will be rich but still with the small company growing so much in the past year, there are chances that we can make some money from the stock options etc. So I am staying. :)
I heard bad news from the libraries too, but they are government agencies. Large public libraries or university libraries, they either reduce hours on all the employees, or all take some pay cut (10%). When they really have to cut staff, they cut from the bottom. So if you have years experience already, you wouldn't have to worry too much. Of course, if it is a public library in a small town with the budget cut coming, then not too much you can do.
Searain, you are absolutely right that they always lay off the assistant workers first and try to keep real librarians. All the public libraries across several counties here do the same. Higher level libraries are in much better situation, as you said.
