WEI of various machines

ok, i finally figured out how to get the windows experience index. it is easy for win7 because it was built in. but for win8 I would have to download an app which installed a bunch of useless other software this morning..

so here is my office one (6 core AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2 GHz, 4 GB ram, just migrated to a 128GB SSD 2 hours ago!).

Machine 1 (win7, about 2 years old)

Processor: 7.5
RAM 5.9 (now 7.5 with 2 sticks of ram inside: the primary, 2G, was faulty).
Graphics 4.1
Gaming Graphics 5.3 (how can this be higher than the last one?)
Primary HD 5.9 (updated to be 7.1, I guess the 5.9 was from my old SATA drive)

so it is 4.1

看来瓶颈都在Graphics上。因为我平时没有玩游戏，所以就是用母板带的graphic，而不是另外买graphic card。

你的，几个芯的干活？我原来的四芯机，有专门的Graphics Card， Fan坏了，估计把母板也烧了，但是自己好的。买了一个Fan，一直没有装上。下次装上看看。

我的6个也没有比你快多少啊。估计你的是i-7 ? 四年前没有啊。

my old sony vaio, about 5 years old. bought it because its blueray player (but alas, only 2 channel sound output!).

not sure if i believe these indices....SSD only 0.4 points higher than HD? come on.

my i-7 asus ultrabook

there is no way it is faster than my office desktop...even with better graphics card perhaps. but not faster.

photoshop cs3 (10) took 6 secs here, but like 1.5 at office...

my i-5 yoga, with win8. had to run a batch file to get the scores.

Processor: 6.5
RAM 5.9
Graphics 4.7
Gaming Graphics 4.9 (how can this be higher than the last one?)
Primary HD 7.9

but it felt slower just browsing web with word open and perhaps 10 pages in the browser.

也许母版也有关系？你的RAM不贵，但是怎么比我的快那么多？。硬盘，内存价格这两年没有降多少

我的Ram怎么5.9！你的也比我高不少。。。不甘心。。。呆会去办公室看看型号，今天升级一下快点的RAM。

要是想追求高的WEI，应该先升级最弱的那个部分。如果你只是升级RAM，那么你的WEI还是原来的指标。蹲爷的机子，每个指标都差不多，所以最不浪费。

这样子我就有16GB RAM了。以后如果要升级，就得买8 GB的module了。

专门跑办公室一趟， RAM 是ddr3, 1333. 4G。 1600就是最快？那个显卡估计太破。如果要买那个千金的屏幕，估计要好卡。那个好像2560*1600.

my old card was nvidia geforce 8500 gt 512mb, the original fan went out and I paid a $12 fan (waste of money!)....now I am not so sure if i would put it in. it might run hot again screwing my whole computer. I think i lost both CPU and MB last time.

CPU跟我的一样啊，我是自己换了母板，原来系统是买的。你有专门显卡？比我的快不少

我的显卡是另外买的，Diamond All in Wonder，1G RAM，专门用来看电视的，看来不错。

也仰望一下蹲老爷的机器。俺的是虎直（TigerDirect）买的捆包，500刀，但是换了显卡，加了4G RAM，没有SSD，所以HD的数据最差。

蜂教授，你yogo的disk score也到7.9了。NJ89是新的SSD，达到8.1也不奇怪。

估计WEI不是很可靠，所以MS把它从win8除去了，我的数据是从这个文件找到的: C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore\2013-11-08 22.34.57.579 Formal.Assessment (Initial).WinSAT

According to Wiki:

WinSAT reports WEI scores on a scale from 1.0 to 5.9 (for Windows Vista), 7.9 (for Windows 7), or 9.9 (for Windows 8).

不知为啥我的ASUS，和第一贴，都是SSD，第一贴是刚装不到3天（黑雾那天卖59，我79买的）。都是Win7.为啥都是5.9？跟MB有关系？

是不是你设备更新之后，需要重新run一下什么（Winsat?）才能更新WEI呢？

I guess nothing to do with MB. I turned my office machine on today again (been using my lappy for 2 days).

refreshed the WEI, I now have 7.1 for HD (but only win7!)

i stick another RAM (thought to be bad!) in and now it has 6 GB, somehow the speed went up (perhaps dual channel now, but not supposed to be, since 2+4). now my memory score is 7.5

so waiting for the new graphics card to be to beat the 4.1 score....

long time no study...
did not know LD's i-3 was actually faster than my coreDuo! always thought i-3 is lower (though newer). but CPU score 6.2, higher than my sony 5.6
