This is something that has been missing from this health care debate. That is, why the system is so expensive in the US? where does the money go? How can other countries cover everybody with only half the cost?

Oh I thought health care has something to do with  保健. Guess not. It is all politics! :)

BTW, the author predicted that medical doctors would be willing to lower their income to support the common good of a universal health care system. Well, dream on.

Other interesting facts and points from this author and his book:
In the US, insurance overhead is 20% vs 3-5% in Europe and Japan.
A certain surgery costs $47,000 in the US, and $5000 in Europe and Japan.
Public option is not necessary if there are sufficient regulations in the health care industry.

One more attempt. This book is considered a must-read for anyone who cares about health care reform.
