| 昨天网友八月风在论坛上贴出一首中文诗，希望大家帮助译成英文。虽然我没有帮上什么忙，却想起了当年在贤弟诗会上的一段往事。下面这段记述因为技术的原因，无法查对原帖，只是根据早先时候收集的笔记写就，可能与事实有些出入，敬希斧正。 这段故事出现在贤弟的第九届连环诗会。这一届的会长应该是诗友西方不败。当时有一条英文诗线，主持这条诗线的是路过(第四届诗会会长)。路会长的中英文诗词功底弗浅，曾经被龙潭诗人三峡誉为“半香老师”，尤其可见一斑。一日，路过会长出了一个念头，要求大家以自己的生计为题，写英文诗。这个题目对我来说有两个难处。其一，我的英文诗水平很烂,平时极少用英文写诗；其二，我一向不愿意把自己的包括生计在内的日常生活带入网中。所以，我觉得自己交不了这个作业。但是，按照当时的规矩，线主号令一出，每个诗友必须依据自己的会员证号依次交出作品。轮到我的时候，出于无奈，我以自己的网名为题，交出了这样一篇作品—— LAST NIGHT A gentle breeze on the tree top. A misty drop on the garden crop, Whatever happened at the last night, Nobody could bring it come to a stop. A windstorm dancing in the forest, A hurricane roaring over the ocean, Whatever happened at the last night, Nobody could change such an exhibition. Do you remember the last night's wind? Do you remember the last night's rain? Whatever happened at the last night, Nobody can bring them back here again. Oh, buddy, forget about the last night, The sky is now much more blue and bright.
